Wm. Sykes and Son conducted another extremely successful auction sale at the Huntsman Inn, Holmfirth on Wednesday 2nd April.

On offer was approximately 50 acres of grazing land at Cartworth Moor, Holmfirth. The land was divided into 6 lots and achieved an average price of almost £11,800 per acre. Lot Five – a 5 acre paddock sold for an impressive £114,000 (£22,750 per acre).

Auctioneer Paul Dixon put the success of the sale down to “land in this location does not come on the market often. When it does demand is always strong and the fairest way to sell it is by auction to the highest bidder”.

He continued “enquiries were received from as far away as Hong Kong but at the end of the day all six lots were purchased by local land owners in close proximity to the property”.
