February Property Auction Results
Wm. Sykes and Son enjoyed a healthy turn out at their first property auction sale of the year held on Tuesday evening at the Huntsman in Holmfirth. Over 150 people attended the sale and despite the current downturn in the housing market the results of the sale were very encouraging.
The highest priced achieved on the night was for Holmcroft, a large detached house on Cartworth Road, Holmfirth the first lot in the sale which sold for £370,000.
42 Totties, a two bedroom terraced house requiring modernisation was sold for £94,000 and Beechwood House a terraced property with a large adjoining former joiners shop made £190,000.
The most surprising result of the night was for 20 Oliver Lane, Marsden a fire damaged terraced house which achieved £51,000 over £20,000 more than its guide price.
A 23 acre block of grazing land on Park Lane between Upper Cumberworth and Birdsedge made an impressive £222,000.
Two lots in the sale remained unsold: a paddock of land on Ox Lane, Netherthong and a terraced house on Manchester Road, Milnsbridge which received interest but did not meet their reserve prices. Offers have since been recieved on these properties.
