Full DetailsDESCRIPTION Detached Residence Nestling into the Hillside Between Slaithwaite and Marsden with Fantastic Views Across the Upper Colne Valley
Carter's Farm is accessed off Lingards Road, then Hollins Lane and finally has rights over a private track that leads down to this and the neighbouring property. The semi-rural location is stunning with fabulous panoramic views over the adjoining countryside and far beyond. This spacious residence was created some years ago from a row of farm cottages and barn believed to date back to the 17th/18th Centuries. Carter's Farm has provided the current owners with a wonderful family home of generous proportions for many years but it is now time for the next family to come and put their stamp on it. You may wish to re-work the kitchen and hall areas with a view to creating a large social dining kitchen, and the main bedroom is connected to a storage area which offers further potential to be opened up to make this an even bigger bedroom, or perhaps look at turning the store into 'his & hers' walk-in wardrobes etc. Large windows throughout the house allow in plenty of natural light and through which you can enjoy those splendid views.
The property has oil fired central heating, and recently installed double glazed windows and matching doors. It is also worth noting that this home is for sale with the benefit of no upper chain to hold you up.
Externally, you will find the majority of the garden areas are to the side and rear of the house which comprise lawns, well planted borders, trees and shrubs. There is access up to a vegetable garden and you will even find an original dairy built into the hillside beyond the rear garden. At the front, you will find a smaller lawn and stone flagged area, with access to the adjoining garage which has a full mezzanine level above providing excellent storage. Attached at the back of the garage is another store ideal for keeping solid fuel.
The house is only a short drive from either Slaithwaite, Marsden or Meltham, all having good village amenities and restaurants, and there is the convenience of a train station in either Slaithwaite or Marsden. You also have access to some lovely countryside walks via numerous public footpaths. If you commute on a regular basis to any of the surrounding major conurbations, then you can pick up the M62 at nearby junctions 23 & 24 which is only 15 to 20 minute drive away.

DIRECTIONS From Huddersfield town centre ring road, take the A62 towards Oldham and proceed for approximately 4 miles onto Slaithwaite. Staying on the A62, pass over the zebra crossing just after Varley Road on the left and the corner shop on the right, before taking the second turning on the left up Lingards Road. Proceed up the hill for about half a mile before turning right onto Hollins Lane which is just in front of a small collection of period cottages knows as 'Top O' The Hill'. Continue along the lane until you see a track on the right with a white sign bearing the name 'Carters'. Follow the newly laid track down and Carter's Farm is the first property you come to.
