ABOUT RYECROFT COTTAGE The exact age of the cottage is unknown but it does appear on maps dated 1818. The former 'taking in' door on the landing suggests it was probably part of the cottage industry at the time and would have had a workshop which dealt with cloth or wool. It may also have had its own small farm at the rear as the current owner has found the remains of former outbuildings and a stone trough over the years.
