ABOUT RYECROFT COTTAGE The exact age of the cottage is unknown but it does appear on maps dated 1818. The former 'taking in' door on the landing suggests it was probably part of the cottage industry at the time and would have had a workshop which dealt with cloth or wool. It may also have had its own small farm at the rear as the current owner has found the remains of former outbuildings and a stone trough over the years.
The property itself is full of character with exposed beams, stone mullioned windows and stone feature walls, plus the fireplaces in the sitting room and dining kitchen are exposed and both house a wood burning stove.
Almost every window offers a pleasant view, particularly those to the westerly elevation which provide far reaching views across the valley towards Pole Moor and right up Standedge with the Pennine hills on the horizon.
The accommodation briefly comprises a garden room, sitting room, dining kitchen, cellar, 3 bedrooms, and house bathroom. As aforementioned, the property comes with a variety of outbuildings, a large stone flagged terrace immediately along the rear of the cottage, and access up to various gardens all of which offer something different and there is even a conservatory with brickwork floor where you can sit and relax and enjoy some stunning scenery.
The two stable blocks are at the top of the garden with a grass yard and gate out onto an unmade lane and footpaths taking you along the hillside or up through the heath to the golf course above. The current owner can also offer the rental of a nearby paddock which may well appeal to those with equestrian interests.
Although the property occupies a lovely semi-rural position, it is still within easy reach of local Schools, Broad Oak Cricket & Bowling Clubs, Crosland Heath Golf Club, several pubs and not far from the village centres of either Linthwaite, Slaithwaite or Meltham where you will find an array of amenities.
